Read moreChinese New Year has come to be known as a time of celebration, feasting, and spending quality time with loved ones, and there’s no better place to do this than at Hutong. From the 27th of January until the 9th of February, celebrate the Year of the Snake with a special three-course Chinese New Year menu created by our talented team of chefs.
The menu features an array of authentic Chinese dishes, including our traditional Lo Hei (撈起) salad, which is said to bring fortune and prosperity, with its origins dating back more than 750 years to the days of the Song Dynasty. “Lo Hei”, which translates to “tossing up good fortune”, is popularly believed to mean that the higher the salad is tossed, the better your prospects and fortune in the year ahead. Other menu highlights include Crispy Poussin with garlic and peppercorn, Deep-fried Sea Bass with a sweet and tangy sauce, and Wagyu Beef in a hot and sour broth.
On Wednesday, the 29th of January, join us for our Chinese New Year party featuring traditional hong bao for each guest, as well as entertainment including a Lion dance performance throughout the evening’s festivities and a traditional Chinese calligrapher thanks to the London Chinese Community Centre. Be sure to fill out your wish for the new year and hang it on a branch of our wishing tree before you leave. We sincerely hope that your wishes come true!
This year, we have partnered with OneSky, who work with communities and governments in Asia to provide young children in vulnerable circumstances with responsive care and safe, nurturing learning environments. OneSky began their work 25 years ago in China, and with a team of early childhood development experts, they set about training caregivers to ensure that the youngest and most vulnerable receive the best possible start in life.
To support the great work that OneSky does, for every guest that dines on our Chinese New Year menu, we will donate £5 to support OneSky’s goal of bringing love and responsive care to infants living in child welfare institutions across China. In addition, guests can choose to donate a variety of gifts, such as a day of care for a baby or young child, new storybooks, and educational toys to encourage imaginative play, by scanning the QR code on the menu.
