Read moreThe Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important Chinese festivals, falling on the 15th day of the eighth month in the lunar calendar during a full moon – this year falling on Tuesday, 17th September.
The Mid-Autumn Festival has a history of over 3,000 years, during which people worshiped the moon to give thanks for the harvest and to encourage the “harvest-giving light” to return in the coming year. In modern times, the Mid-Autumn Festival remains significant and celebrates the legend of Chang’e, the moon goddess, and Houyi, the archer, serving as a time for gathering, thanksgiving, and prayer.
To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival this year, we will be serving a special three-course sharing menu and a welcome cocktail from the 12th of September until the 25th of September, priced at £90 per person.
Our Head Chef has created a seven-dish menu that begins with our Chinese Spritz made with pink gin, mandarin, cranberry, and peach and jasmine soda, served alongside two delicious starters; deep-fried eel puff with tobiko and chilled thinly-cut marinated beef shank with chilli and coriander.
For the main course, we are serving our signature pan-seared sea bass with pickled sweet and spicy sauce and a spectacular new dish of steamed pork ribs wrapped in glutinous rice. Vegetable dishes of wok-tossed green chilli peppers and stir-fried glass noodles with bean sprouts finish off the savoury offerings.
The menu concludes with our house-made mooncake, the special dessert of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
